Contentment

Hey guys it’s Richmond, and I’m back with another blog!

Today we will be talking about being content with what Christ has given us. First, we must ask ourselves, what does it mean to be content? Philipians 4:12-13 says, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Paul is telling us that the secret to contentment is knowing where your strength comes from. If you know your strength comes from God, no matter where you are or what you face, you will always be content because you know God only wants good things for you. Another verse that further proves this point is Hebrews 13:5. This verse says, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” No matter what, God will NEVER leave us. So, we need to take our eyes off of the material things of the world and put them onto God. I know this is easier said than done, but if we are really willing to put in the effort, we can do it! Now that we’ve gone through all this, we must ask ourselves, why is being content so important? This has a simple answer: learning to be content with the things God has given will bring real joy into your life. By letting go of the material things of this world and focusing yourself on what God has for you, we as Christians can find true joy in God’s love and kindness. To conclude, we may feel that we are not deserving of the situations we find ourselves in; but, everything that we go through and everything we have been given are there for a reason.” Perhaps, we are destined for more, but just not in that time. Proverbs 3:5 tell us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” We were not made to understand everything that the Lord does. All we know for sure is that He is always working for our good, so we should rest assured that all things will turn out well in the end.
